The Art of Asking Questions in Everyday Life

It is a quiet Monday evening and I just got off the phone with my beloved partner. The sound of the washing machine is humming in the background. My belly is filled with a burrito from Trader Joe’s.

I was trying to get gossip out of Jay. Something, anything. I was asking clarifying questions and I was met with so many “I don’t knows”. This frustrated me to no end.

When we got off the phone, I was left to speculate. ‘How did he not know what I saw as basic information? Maybe he should be more like me an ask a lot of questions in his conversations.’ But then I thought about it more. While I was thinking and speculating, he was focused on his mission of completing school and becoming a provider.

And while I was wondering if I could extract the information I was so curious about, my own passion projects were sitting, neglected, in me.
